I'm a mountain woman

Do you ever feel so immersed in the beauty of nature that it takes you to a dreamy sort of state? On our vacation I almost felt like I could inhale the mountains with the breeze. I don't think I could ever become so accustom to the sound of a babbling brook or a cascading waterfall that I didn't take a few moments to soak in the beauty and peacefulness. Sure, I love the beach but there is just something about the mountains that leaves me so refreshed and so in awe of the Creator.

One thing is for sure, I'm a mountain kind of gal. After this vacation I'm convinced we should move to the mountains. This summer has flown by so quickly (can I get an amen?) and this trip was just what we needed. I needed to clear my head with the cooler air. I needed to hike a mountain to reach a waterfall. I needed to simply be still, instead of always on the go. Everything I needed to do was left behind and I took the time to be free with the ones I love.

Jonathan's Dad's side of the family goes to the same spot Smokey Mountains and now I see why! I hope we can make this our family's summer tradition!

What about you guys? Are you a mountain or a beach person?

Oh, stay tuned for our our mountain trek to a gorgeous waterfall!

Mountains, no beach! No mountains, how about both...that's the beauty of CA, I get both. But I really choose mountains (minus the windy road car sick feeling I get) they're so majestic!
Beautiful pictures, friend. How cold was that water?!

I agree with you. I need both! A trip to the ocean sometimes and a trip to the mountains sometimes. The ocean is fun, playful and has a certain energy even if you are just lounging. The mountains have a calm, still, serenity to them all the time. Glad you had a great trip. Looks like it was a lot of fun!

awe, what wonderful photos from your trip!! i live in Colorado, so i am definitely a mountain girl!! there is nothing like the mountain air! :)

Mountain for sure. The beach is gorgeous and relaxing, but the montains are more beautiful in my opinion. They're more complex. Every dip and peak, every plant, the rock placement, the way the setting sun looks over the mountain line. it's incredible.

Ah I love the pictures!!
When I want a vacation I am totally a beach girl. But I live so close to the mountains. We don't even have to drive 30 minutes before we are at the bottom of a mountain so I can go all the time. I try not to take that for granted!! We spend alot of our weekends up the mountains!

I have these weird little fantasies of marrying a lumberjack, culturally diverse, foreigner of a godly man who in love with traveling the world and speaks at least two languages.

so yeah, I would love to go to the mountains given I get to go with this husband I have conjured up in my head. haha

you guys look like you had a blast! i can't wait to hear more... Or read more about your trip!

I'd take the mountains and a babbling brook over the beach any day! These are beautiful pictures... it's SO refreshing to spend time away from the rush of every day living and just enjoy God's creation. We all need that every once in a while!

You are looking' too cute, girl!! I have always thought of myself as a beach girl, but now that I'm getting older I think I might be transforming into a mountains girl. ;) Either way, I love them both.

The tubing adventure looks amazing! :D

Oooh, oooooooh! The pics alone took my breath away. I am a mountain girl, hands down. Lucky for me, I am surrounded by both beaches and mountains so I get the best of both worlds!
I just posted a few days ago on my own blog about this exact same thing! My pics aren't as fabulous as yours are though! Seriously breath-taking scenery! You are lucky girl to have gone on such a vacation!

I'd rather go to the beach for a holiday, but I love mountains, too. I grew up in a valley surrounded by mountains and we always went to the ocean for vacations. The warm Pacific water off the coast of Papua New Guinea and the amazing sea life gets me every time, but the misty mountains covered in trees are beautiful as well.:)

I grew up in WA where I had both. :) Love the beach mostly. But your pictures from the mountains are just gorgeous. Looks like fun! xx

I'm a bit of both.
Wow, I am in love with that log cabin. And the view from the window!

I've always lived by a beach but there is something so awe inspiring and magical about the mountains. I could definitely see myself living there when I am an older lady. I say 'older lady' so that means I have some time to learn some practical skills... because you've gotta be handy if you live up there... according to books and movies anyway!

i've always told jordan that if we could just move to the mountains or the beach, i'd be a happy girl. :) i find God's presence loudly in those places, often in the form of a babbling brook or a crashing wave. these places bring me peace and comfort, away from the busy-ness of everyday life that can sometimes be so overwhelming. i'm hoping we can plan a vacation soon, just to give us a couple of days of quiet and rest. beach or mountains: i'd be happy with either! (p.s. would you mind sharing where you guys stayed in the smokeys? it looks beautiful!)

AMEN! Looks truly beautiful. Nothing like a vast stretch of wilderness and the morning sun setting over creeks and tall mountains to remind you of the splendor of God... although, I have to say, I find myself thinking the same thing when I watch the sun set on the beach, so... I suppose I'm in the middle!

*looks like a great trip :)

Your little cabin looked so homey and comfortable! It's so gorgeous there! I would definitely want to hike to a waterfall!
I think I'm definitely a mountain person. I've never been to the beach and still want to, but there is something about breathing the cool morning air, being surrounded by trees, a big blue sky, and beautiful mountains!

We just spent a weekend in Big Sur and I think I may have converted from a beach person to a mountain person! There is something about the clean fresh air that helps me sleep better at night...

How lovely!!!

I don't know which girl I really am. I would say at 1st I'm a beach girl, cause really I have spent more time at the beach than the mountains.

How about---I'm a beach girl during the summer, and a mountain girl during the fall and cool months! :)
