Road Trip | part 2

While we were in Chattanooga I had the opportunity to go see Arielle! (She's already written about it on her blog, but I had to share about it too!) We've been friends for a little while now, but we hardly see each other because we live so far apart. I had a free day, so we decided to meet up a couple hours away. We planned to meet at this little coffee shop in a small town. When we got there we discovered that they were closed. (Their website was deceiving! Haha!) We ended up driving around for a while, trying to find somewhere to eat. It was pretty funny.

I had so much fun hanging out and talking. At one point we visited a waterfall close to where we were. It was fun walking around and taking in the beauty of the place. I never get to be in the mountains, so I loved every second. There aren't even hills where we live. Everything is so flat! The beach is close though, so I guess that's something!

It's such a blessing to have a friend that I have so much in common with! I'm so thankful for our friendship. I really enjoyed getting to hang out again. This time we took way more pictures! Not everyone thinks it's fun to be outside and take photos for hours. I'm pretty sure we could both do that all day! :)

Hehe. I love that last jumping picture! I definitely had a great day. Maybe it won't be so long before I see my beautiful friend again.

Road Trip | part 1

We're back! Our trip has been quite eventful to say the least - we've been to 4 different states and back! Needless to say, we are so glad to be home. At the beginning of our trip, we went up to Chattanooga to view the new NorthFace line for my husband's work. It is such a beautiful place! On our last day there we visited Rock City Gardens before heading to our next state. I hadn't been there since I was a little kid.

Where we live the colors of Autumn, are well, less than vibrant. We have a lot of evergreens. Chattanooga was just the opposite. Everything popped with bright shades of orange and red. I said "Oh wow, this is so beautiful" more times than I can count.

The weather was a little chilly, but perfectly overcast for photos. My hubby was actually totally into taking pictures. He definitely prefers taking photos as opposed to being in them! Hehe! He really has a good eye, so all I had to do was show him a few things about lighting and focus! A lot of these are his shots. We had such a good time setting up the tripod and being silly.

It was a little chilly! I didn't mind though. I grew up in Florida and winter there is almost non-existant. Seriously, it was 80 degrees on Christmas more often than not. Thus, I enjoy wearing scarves, hats and coats whenever I can!

Just as we finished the trail, it started to rain. Shortly after that we sat down in their restaurant for lunch, and not a minute later the power went out! It was so perfectly timed! Chattanooga loved us well. If we had to move there, I wouldn't hate it! :) It is 2 hours from Knoxville, Nashville, Birmingham, and Atlanta! Not to mention, Chattanooga has majestic mountains and a river that flows through the city. (Can you tell I've thought about this? Hehe!)

Well, that was only the first stop on our trip! There is more to come :) I'm off to catch up on emails and everything else! I hope you all had a good week while I was away.

On the road...

Happy November you all! So far we've spent the first few days of November on the road. We came up to Chattanooga for a work event for my hubby. It's been fun to get away for a little while. We sure are enjoying being at a nice hotel! It's a fun little treat. Today we are leaving Chattanooga and traveling to two other states and then heading back home. Whew! If things are a little quiet here, you'll know why! :)

I hope you all are having a great week so far!

PS: Thank you so much for all the sweet comments on my last post. It was very encouraging to me.

Ready for the weekend...from my iphone

Confession: We are not dressing up for Halloween this year. It's kinda sad. Jonathan and I had some costumes ready, but we are going out to eat with friends instead. Oh well. I did {finally} get some pumpkins! Yay! I love decorating for this season.

Welcome to the casa de Blair!

I use that chalk board for so many things! :) Oh, and I promise that I've read that C. S. Lewis book...I just use it for decoration now! I love to put books everywhere.

I had to be minimalistic with the pumpkins this year, due to my decor budget of zilch. However, these where 2 for $1! I was so happy to be able to get a few!

Well, it looks like it will be a quiet weekend for us. We don't mind too much because we've been so busy. I've got some chili cooking on the stove and some apples ready for baking. I'm rather looking forward to being on the "grown-up" side of Halloween this year...you know, being behind the door and passing out candy.

What are you all up to this weekend?

Transitions

Were we live the weather is so unpredictable. It can go from cold to hot in what seems like minutes, especially during the fall. It makes it hard to transition into the autumn season. It feels like life is doing the same thing to me. These past few days back in the states have been really hard for me. I've been thrown from one setting to another and I feel rather lost. There is so much I still have to process, but life must go on.

I love the life God has given me. I'm thankful for where I am. Still, I know things in me are changing...things that need to change. I just got back from a quick trip home for an engagement shoot. I usually take the chance to take some photos of my family while I'm there. (Thus, these impromptu photos! I love the one above! It is my siblings in a nutshell!) They wanted to know all about the trip, but I found it hard to talk about. It was so good to spend time with them, but I have a huge heaviness that is weighing on my heart.

However, I hope to share more about what I experienced in Africa. This trip has help transition me into a new phase. I am changed. My leaves are falling and it is a beautiful, but hard thing. I pray God shows me where to go from here.

My heart is full. My mind is filled with beautiful and intense memories. I hardly know how to put them into words, but I hope to soon.

How have you all dealt with life's abrupt transitions?
