Ready for the weekend...from my iphone

Confession: We are not dressing up for Halloween this year. It's kinda sad. Jonathan and I had some costumes ready, but we are going out to eat with friends instead. Oh well. I did {finally} get some pumpkins! Yay! I love decorating for this season.

Welcome to the casa de Blair!

I use that chalk board for so many things! :) Oh, and I promise that I've read that C. S. Lewis book...I just use it for decoration now! I love to put books everywhere.

I had to be minimalistic with the pumpkins this year, due to my decor budget of zilch. However, these where 2 for $1! I was so happy to be able to get a few!

Well, it looks like it will be a quiet weekend for us. We don't mind too much because we've been so busy. I've got some chili cooking on the stove and some apples ready for baking. I'm rather looking forward to being on the "grown-up" side of Halloween this year...you know, being behind the door and passing out candy.

What are you all up to this weekend?

Pirates, Blair style

I have lost my sweet tooth. I can't image where I have put it. Maybe you loose it once you reach a certain age. Dang it! I am getting so old. I was very surprised to find that I have lost my taste for candy this Halloween. The hubs bought tons for the trick-or-treaters, but I didn't even eat a single piece! And this is coming from the girl who used to LOVE candy. I still love chocolate, but it doesn't count. It has it's own category in my opinion.

Sad day for me. However, I'm sure my teeth appreciate it. Its better for me not to eat all that sugar anyhow.

Even so, I had a good Halloween despite my lack of appetite for candy. We were able to dress up for a costume party Friday night! It was a blast. Now I can finally say what we were!!!!

Drum roll please: Captain Jack Sparrow and Elizabeth Swan!

I'm getting my game face ready. Elizabeth hardly ever smiled.

Here we are!

The lovely (zombie prom queen) hostess and myself

We had a blast scaring people as they came in the house.

Intense. I know.

My dear friend Wilma Flinstone was adorable. I'm not sure where her Fred was at the moment, but it was good of them to step out their show to come to the party.

Pumpkin carving!

My hippie friend didn't like my dagger. She'd rather have peace. Oh well. I kept it anyway.

They motley crew of guys...

And the fabulous ladies.

It was a fun night indeed. I just wish we could dress up in weird costumes more than once a year!

Ha, hap, HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I love getting dressed up. I always have. Pretending to be someone else is a ball. I am very excited that we get to do just that this Friday.
WE’RE GOING TO A HALLOWEEN PARTY! (If you can type at the top of your lungs, that’s what I just did.)
This is the first time Jonathan and I have ever dressed up together. In years past, I went home most weekends, and most of the time he had to work anyway. But that’s not the case this year! The hubs tried on his costume last night and it looks AWESOME! Mine however, need some work. The best part about dressing up (as a character) is getting to act like them. There will an accent going on for sure. Fun, fun, fun! We were definitely practicing our lines last night in front of the mirror. Don’t judge. You know you’d do it too if you were dressed up like us.
We are going to be ______. I would tell you, but if I did I’d have to kill you. I don’t want to kill you, so I will refrain for your sake. (Insert mischievous giggle here.) But don’t worry, you shall find out soon enough. If there is something special going on, rest assured that I will take pictures. Lots.
Here’s a clue about what were going to be. I love guessing games.
Where guns and swords and treasure abound, there you’ll find this lad and lass are found.
Do you know yet? Any guesses?

'Tis only a facade

October is the best month EVER. I'm very excited that Halloween is coming soon. I'm not a huge Halloween advocate, but I still like it. Who doesn't like free candy? Not to mention COSTUMES! I love it when people get really creative with their costumes. Since I actually have a house this year, I think I'm going to throw a costume party. Our living room isn't that big, but we can make do for now. Dressing up as something else is so fun. In college, my roomie and I went a bit overboard with the whole dressing up for "Incognito," which was our BCM costume party. People probably thought we were odd. Who cares? We had a blast creating our costumes.

Here's what I've been in the past:

 A Ninja Turtle

A Siamese twin (We stuffed that dress with pillows! Ha ha)

The Holy Bible (Jennifer's Version) and my friend Manda was the holy "ghost"

However, I'm having trouble coming up with something creative for this year. Most of the time ideas will come to me just as I am drifting off to sleep. I can't count on that though. My ideas as of today are:

  • Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter

  • Nancy Drew and ??? What could my hubby be?

  • Curious George and the Man in the Yellow Hat...Cute! I think this one is my favorite thus far.

Do you dress up for Halloween? What is the best costume you've ever seen? If anyone has a creative and cute costume idea, please let me know!
