Michelle's Senior Photos

I am so excited to share these photos with you guys! My sister had a blast taking her senior photos at Cumberland Island. We were a tad bit dressed up to be treking all over an island, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do! I'm sure I looked funny with my little point and shoot as well. I am by no means an expert in the realm of photography, but my Dad did teach me a thing or two in high school.

So without further ado, here they are!

I am so excited for this big step in her life. I know the Lord has wonderful plans for her.

a heavy heart

Tomorrow, my husband leaves to join the relief efforts for damage done by the massive tornadoes that struck northern Alabama.

My sister-in-law and some of my mom's side of the family live in the areas it struck. My aunt, uncle and cousins took refuge in their church. The storm demolished everything, except for where they were. Despite the glass flying past them and the building crashing down above, they stayed safe. Praise God. Their cars were flattened by one of the walls of the church. Still, they have a home and each other...which is more than many can say right now.

My heart goes out to those who were effected by this disaster. Please pray for my husband and the rest of the team. I wish I could go as well, but I have other responsibilities - thus my heavy heart. My puny arms aren't equipped with enough muscles for clearing rubble anyhow, or at least that is what I am telling myself so that I don't jump in the car with my husband tomorrow. I wouldn't be able to go even if I did have ripped biceps.

I listened to this on the way to work today;

Trouble surrounds me
Chaos abounding,
My soul will rest in You

I will not fear the war
I will not fear the storm
My help is on the way
My help is on the way

Oh my God, He will not delay
My refuge and strength always
I will not fear, His promise is true
My God will come through - always

hypocrisy

How can I lift my hands in praise
And then leave them at my side?
Your hands reached out to the lowly
Yours were nailed open wide

How can I read Your Word
And not obey your commands?
You call for radical obedience
Following You has great demands

How can I proclaim I am Yours
And not live like I belong to You?
If I am Your own, Your child
Do I even look I’ve been made new?

How can I say that I follow You
And not daily take up my cross?
You are my example for living
And you said gain is found in loss

How can my heart meet Yours
And not be consumed with Fire?
If I have truly seen You Jesus
How can you not be my one desire?

How can I see the world’s needy
And not be filled with compassion?
Your heart is full of grace and mercy
Why don’t I put Your love into action?

I am so humbled before You Lord
My sins have come to view
Burn away my heart’s hypocrisy
Make me ever more like You

The vlog...part 1

Well folks, the time has come and here is the vlog. Sorry it is so long. I did it three times and this was the shortest I could get it...and these aren't even all the questions! What can I say? I am a woman of many words. Aren't most women? Haha.

I hope you all have a great Tuesday. If you have any other questions you are welcome to email me!

Our Trip to Cumberland Island

This past weekend I was able to go home and visit my sweet family. While there, I had the honor of taking my precious sister's senior photos. She is a beautiful, talented young woman and I am proud of her! As I was pondering on the best place to do the shoot, Cumberland Island popped into my head. It had ruins, beaches, wild horses and beautiful Oak tress. Perfect. It was a bit of a drive but it was worth it. I don't have a fancy smancy camera, but a little creativity and a beautiful background goes a long way.

I am still editing some of her pictures, so I thought I'd share the story of our day with you all first.

Once in St. Mary's, we had to take a 45 minute ferry out to the island.
After we got off the ferry, we began the trek to the Dungeness ruins. They used to be a majestic home of the Carnegie's, but unfortunately a fire destroyed their beautiful home. However, it did provide a great backdrop for out little adventure.
Early in the day...we were still enthusiastic about walking so much.
When we walked up I got so incredibly excited. It was more beautiful and majestic than I had imagined.
The ruins were still so incredibly beautiful. I can only imagine what she looked like in her prime. It was fun to imagine what it might be like to be the mistress of such a grand place.
Just imagine us in big puffy dresses about to enter into a grand ball at this place back in the late 1800's. How fun would that be? I've always wanted to go to a ball. I suppose it's every little girl's dream.

Then the silliness commenced. I blame it on the heat.
After several hours we began the journey back to the dock. We were tired and hot...but we soldiered on.
I thought skipping might distract me from the heat.
But alas, it took my sister...
I failed to notice because I was busy navigating our way back to base.
Soon we were on our way again...we are troopers, yes we are.
Neither heat nor sweat can keep us down...well maybe a little...but not much.
At this moment, we realized that the ferry was leaving soon...so we had to start running.
We didn't want to get left behind. Not like the Christian series "Left Behind" but actually left on the island. We might end up Lost, not like the tv show...but just lost.
Sis tried to imitate that creepy Charmin commercial. "Enjoy the go" she said.
Finally we arrived back at the dock.
Our poor feet were so tired and dirty.
But Cumberland Island was good to us, despite what our tired and dirty feet told us. My only wish was that we had seen the wild horses. Alas!

Stay tuned for her senior pics....and the vlog!

Senior Shoot...sneak peak

Here's a sneak peak of my sister's senior photo shoot!

I was able to spend some time with my family this weekend. Yesterday was jam packed with this shoot and my brother's birthday party, but I couldn't wait to share these photos.

Stay tuned for more!

Oh and don't forget to ask your questions for the vlog in the post below. You have until Tuesday!

Questions? You have questions?

So...I have decided to do a vlog...maybe.

(Insert a devious snicker.)

Anyway, I have decided to have a Q & A time. So ask away! This is your chance to ask your questions....if you have any? Hmmm. That is yet to be seen.

They can be silly.

They can be serious.

They can be semi-serious.

They can be semi-serious-silly.

They can be semi-serious-silly-sar...never mind.

So, here's your chance. I have lots of quirks that have been begging to be let out in a vlog. I cannot resist their pleas any longer. You will soon find out just how much of an odd ball I am. Prepare yourselves.

What'cha wanna know?
