My latest DIY projects

I may be jobless at the moment, but I refuse to be lazy.  I really can't stand it. Turning on the TV during the day might as well be torture for me. (I know, I'm really an odd ball!) Don't get me wrong, I like some shows but I don't like wasting the day away. I love to focus on a project and get it done. That being said, I have kept my hands (and my mind) busy with these little projects.

These are my favorites thus far:

A few days ago I posted some inspiration. I'm so very happy with how this next one turned out! It really looks like us and I have been wanting to add a few more pillows for a while now.

We've sort of developed our own 'sides' of the couch, so the beard is on his side and the lovely hair is on mine. I really like Jonathan's 'side' better, because it has the side table...but I let him have it anyway! Ha!

What do you guys think? Would you rather have the ruffle lampshade or the his & hers pillows?

I have an etsy shop!

That's right! I opened an etsy shop called jen christine designs! I'm really excited. For now I am using it to help raise money for my mission trip to Ethiopia. I can't believe the trip is only 2 months away! This week we are working on more paperwork and sending off our passports to get approved for visas. I just want to thank all of you who are helping me and spreading the word about my fundraiser. You guys are so sweet and I've been humbled.

What do you guys think of the new headband design? As always, you are more than welcome to get one from the blog as well. Just click on the button below.

Pick one!

Send Jen to Ethiopia!

Do you like my new headbands? Well, 1, 2, 3 or more of them can be yours! I am making headbands to raise money for my trip to Ethiopia this fall! Since this mission trip costs $3750 and I have already depleted my savings on the first third, I am having to get creative. They have a very vintage chic feel to them. Who doesn't love vintage these days?

Want one? Yes? Great!

Here are your options:

All proceeds will go to my trip to Ethiopia this fall. (You can read more about it here.) I will be going with International Crisis Aid to work with victims of sex trafficking. We will also be helping the malnourished and several other things. It is going to be quite a trip! Did I mention there are lions in Ethiopia? Ha! This certainly isn't a sight-seeing trip. It'll be more like a feet-aching, heart-wrenching, mind-exhausting, hand-dirtying trip...but it's going to be so worth it. There is nothing better than the knowledge that you are being the hands and feet of Jesus in such a tangible way. Nothing.

I'd be so honored for you to help me get there.

Disclamer: You can donate as much as you'd like (which is why it says donate), but the headbands are a minimum of $20. I will not send a headband for under $20. Thanks!

Wedding Place Cards & Life Update

Hello dear friends! I want to go ahead and appologize for my lack of presence in this lovely blog world. Life has been so busy that my computer time is extremely limited these days. I wish I could visit all of your blogs and email back a little better, but that may just have to wait until things slow down...which may be after the summer is over! Ha!

Anyway, I wanted to share one of my latest projects with you all. My old boss/ friend asked me to make place cards for her bridesmaid's luncheon. I became so excited as soon as the words "shabby chic" left her lips. Shabby chic is most definitely my forte! Here's a few photos of my creations! All of them are different and I love it!

I'm very pleased with how they all turned out! I don't think I can even pick a favorite. So what is yours? It was a fun little project! Although I must say, I am enjoying the preparation for someone else's wedding instead of mine for a change! It felt like I was always doing craft projects for our wedding!

PS: I am trying out an all white look and a new header. What do you guys think, white or color? Also, if you know a way to expand the blog width I'd love to know!

Have a wonderful Friday!

Bracelets of tabs...

If you take...

Some string...

And some soda tabs...

You can make these bracelets!

We are making them to raise money for the victims of sex trafficking in Ethiopia. They are $10 each and all the money goes directly to the ICA. Send me an email if you are interested in spreading the word or purchasing a bracelet.

Making these only takes a few minutes. It's a small thing...very small. Still, small things make a difference. And together, all those small actions create a bigger movement. Big things start with small things.

Spring sprung into our house!

Yesterday, I woke up (as I usually do) and drug myself down stairs to start a pot of coffee. Then to my surprise I found that Spring had sprung into our house! I was shocked, but overcome with happiness all at the same time. I became so delighted at this discovery that I ate not one, not two, but three Reese's eggs. (I thought it was appropriate for the occasion! Spring is always welcomed with Reese's eggs. It's rule. Look it up! Or at least it is in my rule book.)

Am I kidding?

Maybe.

Still, our Springtime decor makes my heart smile...regardless of how said Spring decorations entered our home. Good thing I love green, because it is everywhere!

Here, you can take a look!

I am in love with these little silhouettes. I'd like to think that they look like us...but they don't really. The man's face was actually a silhouette of Edward Cullen. However, a few snips here and there helped rid us of that! Oh, and don't you love the girl's messy bun? Messy buns are best thing since sliced bread.

We still have tons of candles left over from the wedding...so they get put to good use!

I saw that the Dogwood tree by the entrance to our appartment complex was blooming the other day. I am glad someone thought I would some of the blossoms in our house! I have no idea who would stand by the side of the road and cut off some branches...no idea whatsoever. :) But I'm glad they did!

Ah, I love those blossoms!

A few managed to find their way into our bathroom too.
And now there are Azeleas blooming outside of our front window!

Don't you just love Spring-time?
