Where I live, summers are suffocatingly hot. Because of the humidity and heat, my hair normally finds it's way into a ponytail. However, this is a fantastic alternative to summer's signature hairstyle. This my friends, is a Braided Crown - the slightly more sophisticated version of Heidi Braids. However, I have to admit that I saw this first on A Cup of Jo.
Here is a little tutorial for this updo. You can either watch the video or follow the photos.
You're going to need some hairspray. My roommate in college got me hooked on this stuff.
You'll also need bobby pins, lots of bobby pins.
First, make two loose braids.
Wrap the first braid around the front of your head, fairly close to your hair line and pin in place.
Wrap the other braid around the back of your head and tuck the ends into the first braid.
This is what the other side will look like. You can twist your hair to cover the bare spots.
Now all you have to do is spray it all in place! Voila!

I saw this on Cup of Jo and loved it! It looks great on you! My hair isn't quite long enough, but now I want to grow it out even more. Beautiful!
I love this! I saw it on Joanna's blog too and fell in love. I need tons of practice though, I suck at all things that have to do with styling my own hair, haha. :)
so cute! I wonder how it would look with curly hair. hmm. One of these days I should try it out.
And I use the same hairspray. sometimes even if I don't need any in my hair, I just like the smell of it.
So cute!

To bad my hair will never make it to that length. I would so rock that style if I had enough hair, though.
very pretty! I love the headband. It really adds to it and makes it elegant!

This is so pretty! I wish I could do this with my hair... I have SUPER thick hair, though, so I think it would fall down after 10 minutes. haha. Perhaps I'll try it out sometime, though, just to see. :)
WOOO!! I love it, I´ll try it :). I´m a new follower. kiss kiss

Loved it! You make it look so easy. And I may or may not be offended by the learning at 6 or 10 how to braid hair... I have no clue how old I was (but I think a lot older) and suck at braiding my hair. ;)
Ooh I love this! My mom is getting remarried in June...my sister and I may need to try this out for it :)
xo
doing this...
What a great idea...nice to find your beautiful blog.
Awww! Now I REALLY want my long hair back!!!! ;( I just got 10 inches of my hair cut off about a month ago, and donated it so that it could be a wig for some who has cancer.... Now my hair goes *just barely* to my shoulders. Oh well... it'll grow back... *hopefully*
Anyways, I LOVE your blog! I just found it the other day, and it's awesome! I'm a 13 (almost 14!) year-old, red-headed, piano-playing, homeschooled, pastors daughter.
Also, I was just wondering... What denomination are you and your husband? Presbyterian, Baptist, Catholic, etc,....
Giving GOD the Glory!
