a heavy heart

Tomorrow, my husband leaves to join the relief efforts for damage done by the massive tornadoes that struck northern Alabama.

My sister-in-law and some of my mom's side of the family live in the areas it struck. My aunt, uncle and cousins took refuge in their church. The storm demolished everything, except for where they were. Despite the glass flying past them and the building crashing down above, they stayed safe. Praise God. Their cars were flattened by one of the walls of the church. Still, they have a home and each other...which is more than many can say right now.

My heart goes out to those who were effected by this disaster. Please pray for my husband and the rest of the team. I wish I could go as well, but I have other responsibilities - thus my heavy heart. My puny arms aren't equipped with enough muscles for clearing rubble anyhow, or at least that is what I am telling myself so that I don't jump in the car with my husband tomorrow. I wouldn't be able to go even if I did have ripped biceps.

I listened to this on the way to work today;

Trouble surrounds me
Chaos abounding,
My soul will rest in You

I will not fear the war
I will not fear the storm
My help is on the way
My help is on the way

Oh my God, He will not delay
My refuge and strength always
I will not fear, His promise is true
My God will come through - always

Sad news for many people today...Thanks for blogging about it..Sometimes this blogger world seems a little superficial to me...But I appreciate your post and redirecting attention to what really matters, people and helping others in their time of need.. May YHVH protect your husband and orchestrate the rescue efforts..May many survivors be found and may the aid come speedily... In Yeshua's name.. Amen!

Thank him for me... we live in Alabama, but our area didn't get hit yesterday. It's really bad in the state though. Wish I could be out there getting my hands dirty with the clean up work... maybe I can in a few days. I was excited to help make sandwhichs for workers today though! :)
Blessings to you on Thursday!

That's so great he's able to go help! Do you think they could use some clothing shipped over there? Have your husband check it out!

so, so sad. there's a beautiful kerrie roberts song with the line "before a heartache can ever touch my life, it has to go through your hands." our mighty Lord has His hand over all of this. that knowledge alone is comfort at a time that seems comfortless. praying for your husband and family. you hold down the fort and stay strong for the weak ones. have a beautiful, blessed weekend:)

That storm greatly affected my hometown as well as a college town that many of my friends live in. One of my friends actually was about to get in her car to go to a Milos for dinner when she randomly turned on the news and was told to get in a safe place. That Milos is now flat. Praise God!! I am earnestly praying for you and your husband.

As a meterologist I work with the weather on a daily basis. The power of distruction from mother nature never ceases to astonish me. I too have a heavy heart for all effected by this storm.. just think though, if your husbands going you kind of will be there in spirit too. I'm so happy that many have been joining in relief efforts for this. So sad. x

My heart is so sad for those people. Praying for comfort and provision for them and praising Him for keep others safe! like yours! But that is so neat that your husband gets to do that! My dad was saying how he'd like to be there helping but God doesn't have him doing that right now. We need to trust that God has us right where He wants :)
I'll be praying for your hubby and for you♥

My sister lives in the hit area (although she was on the outskirts - her house is fine). It is awful. Is your husband going as a volunteer effort through your church?
